Abubakr Ali cast for Netflix Grendel series

  Netflix Orders ‘Grendel’ Series Based On Dark Horse Comic With Abubakr Ali To Star From Deadline : Netflix has given an eight-episode series order to Grendel, a series based on the masked vigilante from Matt Wagner’s popular, award-winning Dark Horse comic book series, with Abubakr Ali (Power Book II: Ghost, Katy Keene) set to star in the tite role. With Ali’s casting, he becomes the first Arab Muslim male actor to portray a series lead in a comic book adaptation. The series, written and executive produced by Resident Evil and Supernatural alum Andrew Dabb, comes out of Netflix’s first look deal with Dark Horse Entertainment. How James Gunn subverts generic male gaze in The Suicide Squad

Minor spoilers ahead for The Suicide Squad (but if you weren’t interested in watching the movie especially after the sexist 2016 version, perhaps this review will sway you!) The Suicide Squad movie has just released in both theaters and on HBO Max streaming. It is an indirect sequel to 2016′s Suicide Squad directed by David Ayer. No, you need not have seen the 2016 movie in order to watch this one. Yes, this new sequel is way better than the previous movie. I saw a few non spoiler reviews online from fans saying this movie felt like it had a female gaze. Now, after having seen both of Gunn’s Guardians movies for Marvel and the way the women were treated, combined with David Ayer’s 2016 Suicide Squad movie and how Harley was treated, I admittedly dismissed this notion that James Gunn could make a movie that wouldn’t have me rolling my eyes at least a dozen times.   There's Nothing Wrong With Ruby Rose's Acting...  (You're Just Homophobic) Let's be real honest here: There is NOTHING WRONG with Ruby Rose's acting, you're just NOT USED TO SEEING an openly queer and gender fluid actor playing queer roles. That's why Ruby has haters from all sides, and it's nothing to do with her acting. Let's break that down a bit. Since breaking into movies, former model Ruby Rose has been seen the most in the action movie genre. She's played roles opposite lead actors such as Jason Statham (The Meg), Vin Diesel (XXX: The Return of Xander Cage), and Keanu Reeves (John Wick: Chapter 2), to name a few.
